USA Concert Choir

USA Concert Choir - MUO 111, 411, 511

The USA Concert Choir is the largest choral ensemble on the USA campus, performing a wide range of repertoire from the 16th through the 21st centuries. The choir performs two concerts per semester, on campus and in the community. This choir is open to all USA students. Recent performances of the Concert Choir on campus have included Fauré's Requiem (2009), Pinkham’s Christmas Cantata, and Mozart’s Requiem. The choir has also performed regularly with the Mobile Symphony - Holiday Pops (2010), Beethoven Symphony No. 9 (2011 & 2017), Orff’s Carmina Burana (2012), and Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky (2013). The USA Concert Choir is directed by Dr. Laura Moore.

University Chorale - MUO 115, 415, 515

The University Chorale is a highly select ensemble of voices that perform challenging choral literature of diverse styles and periods. The Chorale is the most visible representative of the choral area, and its members are students of the highest musical caliber. Participation in this ensemble is by audition only. In addition to appearances on campus, the University Chorale also performs for schools and civic organizations in the greater Mobile area and Gulf Coast region, including multiple performances with the Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra. In 2011, the Chorale was invited to perform at the Alabama Music Educators Association in-service workshop & conference. The University Chorale is directed by Dr. Laura Moore.

Auditions for Choirs

Auditions for choirs are held the week before classes begin, and during the first three days of classes. Interested singers should contact Dr. Laura Moore at (251) 460-6361 to schedule an audition time.
